What it boils down to is what do you want more:
Instant pleasure or Pain followed by peace and Joy

Church on Sundays and Wednesdays
I would read my Bible throughout the day, maybe not every day, but I was definitely reading it.
I was actively praying every day.
I was always looking for ways to help others.
What lead me to failure:
Sometimes it is not about what you are doing, it is about what you are NOT doing.
When temptation HIT like a hurricane, the moment it would hit- all the work, time, energy, reading, working toward overcoming, in a second I would throw it out the window and run toward what I should not.
All that practice. All that training. All that reading. All that building up my faith, and when the moment of temptation HIT, as the thoughts of physical pleasure flooded my brain and rushed a power punch of adrenaline through my veins, I would cave in.
What I wasn’t doing is taking the situation IMMEDIATELY to God. I mean the first thirty seconds are do or die, if we linger longer than thirty seconds, those thirty seconds turn to minutes of lust, and that lust then turns to action.
Physical action.
I knew what I had read. I knew the course of action that I needed to exercise the moment temptation came hurling around the corner. We even get signs ‘the storm is on it’s way.’ Because Almighty God is GOOD like that. He warns us. He loves us.
“The Storm is coming. Get ready.” –
He says to each child in the individual magnificent way He speaks to every one of His children, making them feel like the only child on Earth. He speaks to them in His way. Their own way. Amazing!
And guess what we do- we call the signs from God – signs from the enemy!
You better believe we do. Until God makes it clear, “it wasn’t the enemy warning you, it was me.”
Problem was, that when temptation HIT, I wanted the pleasure more than the PAIN.
I didn’t want to sacrifice the pleasure for pain.
I wanted the Devil, more than I wanted God.
IF you are being bombarded by temptation, Prayer, IMMEDIATE prayer is required. Otherwise, all that follows are ‘tears and please forgive me’s’ over and over.
By God’s grace, power, and MIGHTY SPIRIT, I have began to exercise the battle plan of ‘immediate prayer’.
Why is this so important? This is nothing you or I don’t already know. However, sometimes, we need things broken down- plain and simple because of all the mess standing in the way that is blocking us from seeing the obvious.
We need it broken down-
Over and over and over, until it sinks in.
If we do NOT immediately pray to God, why doesn’t this work? Because temptation is a MOUNTAIN, A WALL 50 feet high, and when we decide to not pray, we attempt to scale that wall without a rope, without any help, at night, no light, no hooks, no shoes, no water, alone, and we itch like hell.
That’s one itch, we are bound to scratch and when we do, there is only one way we are going… STRAIGHT DOWN.
The treacherous mind has a GENIUS way of sabotage.
We have all had that moment when we are in desperate need of a super genius idea but all we can think of is a wheel. Well, there is one sure fire way of creating a genius idea- Try doing the right thing, now kick back and observe the million genius ways the brain instantly invents to prevent you from exercising the battle plan of immediate prayer. It is extraordinary! Now if we could just get the brain to work in the same manner for the right cause.
The good news is that you and I can learn to exercise the battle plan of immediate prayer.
I did it today.
I felt His Spirit come in and as it did, I felt the temptation within by body begin to vanish. I couldn’t help but cry. It was overwhelming Grace. It was the power of Almighty God sustaining me and He will sustain you, if you Trust Him and call upon Him in your times of difficulty and trouble.
As I drove, I felt the pain in my flesh as it clamored for pleasure. An ex gf had called. And she is one who I know is being used by the enemy to tempt me. Whether she knows it or not, that’s another subject. It’s that sexual attraction that is unnaturally powerful and magnetic, that by simply hearing the voice causes the wicked desire to ignite. It’s like the groin has it’s own direct cell line and it rings straight to the groin, ‘HELLO? Yes? R u coming? ‘. That’s how you know. Anyhow, after hearing her voice. Temptation hit like a hurricane.
I cried out to Almighty God as I drove.
The scripture that came to mind is the one below:
This scripture came to my spirit and I cried out to God.
One more time, make sure we are paying attention.
This scripture came to my spirit and I CRIED OUT TO GOD.
“Lord, please help… I don’t know where else to turn.. I’m doing what your word says to. What YOU tell me to do. This pain hurts and my body wants to do what I know I shouldn’t. I am trying to do as you say, Lord. It is hard. And I need you right now. I know I do. And I’m doing what YOU TELL ME TO DO, in difficult times, to TRUST in YOU and for me to CALL on YOU so that YOU CAN RESCUE ME in my times of trouble..”
“please, Lord, I ask this based upon YOUR WORD, that says ask anything in my name and it shall be done, for this brings great Praise and Glory to the Father for what I the Son shall do for you, and your Word never comes back broken or incomplete, therefore in Jesus name I pray to you, Amen.”
A few seconds after that, I felt something. It felt different than other times. There was a certain ease that His spirit came into mine. Quite different than I have felt before. But as His Mighty Spirit filled me, the temptation that pummeled through my veins began to fade away. I couldn’t help but tear up as I am now. For this type of mercy is overwhelming. To call upon Almighty God, and for Him to hear me……you know,I know,……….. that many times He isn’t doing it for me. He is doing it for bigger and better reasons, to defend HIS NAME AND GLORY OF TRUTH. And you know what? I am FOREVER THANKFUL, no matter what the reasons are.
I am thankful that He hears. That He rescues us in our times of trouble.
Follow the battle plan of immediate prayer, for this experience is not based upon my word, but upon His.
And His Word doesn’t let you fall down the mountain side. He will rescue YOU!!
