We Didn’t Become Addicted Overnight- Recovery Will Not Be Overnight Either

A quick thank you to https://wp.me/pcNaiU-1xu Elena’s Short Wisdom for inspiring the following piece.

Breaking The Cycle Takes Time

From my own life experience- I know this will resonate with others without question. Not everyone, but like you just trying to help.

The reason I continued to repeat the cycle of addiction is because when I became sober there was nothing there I wanted, nothing with a real sense of purpose. No career. No meaningful fulfilling duty, job, or purpose. Not that there wasn’t any..I just could not see what they were. Why get sober if I must return to the same shitty life or situation to which I tried to escape from in the first place?

So the cycle continues, non stop. Well there may be gaps, but never truly breaking free for any noteworthy amount of time.

What had to happen for me- is I had to discover something that provided more than my addiction of choice ever could. A better high. For me it was serving God. The thing is- this didn’t happen over night. It was a gradual step by step process that God grew me into and allowed me to ‘work and do’. This point is imperative- the amount of time it took- that it wasn’t overnight. And that is another thing that gets addicts…we want the cure to be one and done like getting a vaccine shot. It doesn’t work that way.

For an addict- what is easier- grabbing a bottle, rock, syringe, Rx, and popping some pills or investing the necessary time, dedication, hard work, in order to build something worthwhile so that we don’t have to escape anymore?

Easy choice- it’s never about DOING MORE HARD WORK..it’s all about the pleasure, sin, and never getting enough of it.

This is why NA, AA, and REHAB hardly ever work.. because of the duration of time we are at those places or in those programs. 14 days, 30 days, 60 days, just isn’t enough. Another reason they don’t work is – where the focus is placed. I already feel like shit, for being an addict now you want me to go to these classes every week that place all the focus on the fact I am an addict. I’m trying to forget the hell this addiction has caused in my life. Not re-live it. But with nothing else worthwhile in place or to look forward to, rehab facilities and counselors choose this route as it’s best option. It’s the worst option. Give me something GOOD to focus on, I’m trying to break free- not remain an addict my whole life by declaring IM POWERLESS … that’s complete garbage. I need to build something worth fighting for, worth living a sober life.

To build something worthwhile with a true sense of purpose- it is built brick by brick one step and one day at a time with God. That’s not going to happen in 30 days or 60 days. A relationship with God, and being able to Trust in God doesn’t happen overnight. We must invite God into our daily work each and every day, to preside over every detail and take us back to Elementary. Back to the basics. Which then allows us to be active and ready for the role or assignment he will give us. This is when everything changes- this role will fulfill us more than any drug ….and it will reduce the addiction to smithereens…where we will forget about it. Because we are staying busy working and serving in the best way possible by helping others. The best drug of choice- Almighty God. Pure. Purpose. Wholeness. Joy. Completeness. Love. Worthy. Song. Dance.Art. Nature. Healing. Family. Only He can fill the gap, heal the hurt, or fill the need which led us to try to escape.

Don’t give up, ever. And make dam sure God is a part of your recovery…actually…not just a part…that HE IS YOUR RECOVERY….HE IS YOUR WAY OUT….HE IS WHAT WILL REPLACE THAT ADDICTION IN JESUS NAME, AMEN.

Ask the Father through Christ to unload and drop some POLARIZE MAGNETS OF TRUTH INTO YOUR LIFE WITH HIS NAME INSCRIBED ON THEM, in Jesus name, amen. When going through addiction we have sooooo many things tugging on our impulses to trigger an impulsive response to RUN TO WHAT WE KNOW AND WHERE WE FEEL COMFORTABLE… the magnets will PULL YOU TOWARD CHRIST…they will pull your eyes, your heart, your will, your dreams, your daily work toward Him and for Him.

The truth is we will never be free unless we are- Almighty God Himself. The World is the Prison that belongs to the evil one. Which is why we say freedom and liberty is found ONLY IN HIM. IN GOD. Make sense?

The players are bound by the rules and authority of the game. Or they get ejected. It’s the commissioner that is free. Which is why- IN HIM WE TRUST. IN HIM WE STAND. IN HIM WE BECOME ONE IN BODY, MIND, AMD SPIRIT. It is the only way to complete freedom.

My aim is to help others make sense of their own lives, by sharing the failures and misfortunes of mine. Misfortune and failure lead a man to the unmistakable clarity of his deception- That there is no need, nor room for God, because he himself is self sufficient, well educated, rich and capable. The more the man stays his ground, holding fast to his position- the more suffering he shall bring into his life. Suffering is the ground upon which elimination of the false occurs and perception of the Truth begins. After enough time is spent courting Misery, Pain, Humiliation, Slavery, Emptiness, one seeks to stop the bleeding. Some men prefer to bleed their way to death rather than admit their ignorance; that their way will never work. While other men, surrender, which is the beginning of knowledge. By surrendering the man does not fall, he rises and steps foot upon the path of Eternal Wisdom and Truth. It is the path that leads to Eternal Life- the pursuit of knowledge, is the pursuit of Almighty God- Man's Creator. *If you have questions, concerns, need direction, prayer, you may email me.* I do not charge for what Almighty God has given me freely.
