Matthew 16:24-26 Living Bible (TLB)
24 Then Jesus said to the disciples, “If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For anyone who keeps his life for himself shall lose it; and anyone who loses his life for me shall find it again. 26 What profit is there if you gain the whole world—and lose eternal life? What can be compared with the value of eternal life?
Matthew 10:28
28 “Don’t be afraid of those who can kill only your bodies—but can’t touch your souls! Fear only God who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
What man or woman isn’t scared of dying, or hasn’t been at one point of their lives?
What is death? What is dying? A shedding of what is no longer needed. We no longer need the cocoon. So we leave it.
Fact: Every human shall die. We are all dying. Therefore let us die for Christ, since it is Christ that gave us life.
I love Matthew 10:28 because it places a clear distinction between the physical body and our spiritual soul.
Once we the die- which is the death of the physical body- the eternal soul remains to be judged and sentenced by Almighty God.
If death, as the World knows it, was the end of all things…..Hell would be a fairy tale. A man could go out and commit any nature of crime, 1,000 murders, rapes, molestations, and pay for them all with his single death.
Doesnt work that way. There indeed is something to fear. And it isn’t death. It’s what comes after. Death is but for a moment…what is after is for an eternity.
As I told my Father before me “we are not dying, we are just changing forms.”
