I have been what I like to call “double-crossing”, meaning thinking that I can serve God diligently for a period of time, then suddenly one day decide, “Lord, I know everything in my life has been going great. My spirit is stronger than ever and I feel your mighty presence right here at this moment advising me not to go inside…but I’m going to go ahead and go inside that house over yonder. I’m going to temporarily turn off my ears, and my heart and go in. I know full well that house belongs to the Enemy..but I’m going to go in anyways, and when I’m done gallivanting around, don’t worry I’ll coming crying back asking you for forgiveness and mercy.”
That’s what you call “double-crossing”. And I am guilty as charged. Whether its consciously or subconsciously done, intentional or unintentional, the fact remains I’ve been a double crosser.
God’s Word the Bible tells us he despises those who are lukewarm, unable to make a committed decision to serve one or the other. Those who have come into the light of understanding through his Blessed grace yet are unable to find it within themselves to desist from immorality and sin.
The Bible also says in 1 Corinthians 10:21: “You cannot be drinking the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; You cannot be partaking of “the table of the Lord” and the table of the demons. Or are we inciting the Lord to jealousy? We are not stronger than he is, are we? ”
Thank God our Lord is patient. But his patience can and will wear thin if we continue trying him and once God leaves you, you will be in a world of hurt. To exist in this world without being able to feel the Lord anymore is what I call Living Hell. It’s no longer finding yourself in the palm of his loving protecting hand, it is a distinct as black and white and there is no denying it when your there. Oh, what a terrible place to be. If you happen to find yourself out of his grace at the moment, I know firsthand how difficult each moment of the day is, how easy it is to feel you have nothing left to give, no more fight left inside you…but as long as your still alive you have hope. Your not dead yet. The enemy has not won, he just has you thinking he has.
We must fight the fine fight of Faith. We must not give in to temptation so quickly. We must return to the basics-reading God’s Word. We must pick up our God given armor and wear it proudly. Let us familiarize ourselves with each extraordinary piece at our disposal. We have been given a helmet of salvation, a large shield of Faith, and a mighty sword which is none other than the Bible itself. It’s okay if you feel like your prayers are not being heard at this moment. Simply continue forward ahead. The Lord is Faithful, he will not forsake you. This time it’s going to require more on your behalf than prayer and a few Sundays at church here and there. It’s going to require true demonstration of commitment to serve and that you are ready to receive the many blessings the Lord has in store for you.
Jeremiah 29:11: “I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. You will find me when you seek me, if you look for me in earnest.”
Remember exactly who you are in Christ! Sing to the Lord. The enemy has already been defeated for us by Christ. The keys of death were stripped from his hand as Jesus hung from the cross in order that we may have everlasting eternal life!
O what a blessing it is to know and be called by Christ. Can I get a AMEN?
